AWWWWWE! Beautiful capture! Beautiful details and texture on her! Almost like I could touch her or him? You are lucky for the front face shot!!!!! I love this image!

CElliottUK from Reading, United Kingdom

How far away was he. From the angle maybe 10-12 feet? Poor little guy must have been sooooo hungry to overcome his fear like that. What a great shot!

19 Feb 2011 8:56am

@CElliottUK: Thanks, it was a great experience...probably about 18' away. Actually, if you stood very still and patiently waited, it was just curiosity that brought him forward. The cemetery seems to offer quite a safe haven and I believe that the little ones who were born last spring don't have the apprehension of people that the older deer possess. We found some fresh hay that had been put out for them by someone, as our winter has been very hard here...so we did notice that the herd looked healthy.

Nice image, even if light is not good enough to enhance the animal face.

Nilla´s photo shoots from Östergötland, Sweden

He´s not afraid? A cute and close portrait!

19 Feb 2011 11:12am

@Nilla´s photo shoots: He seemed to be wary, but very curious. I stood very still and just patiently waited...I believe the young ones do not have the same fear that the older ones have...perhaps because they had never been threatened since they started to inhabit the cemetery.

Didier from Tubize, Belgium

Lovely! Did you bring some food for it? Have a nice day.

Tede from Aubenas 07, France

They are not really wild, splendid close up, you want to cuddle! Nice day.

19 Feb 2011 12:54pm

@Tede: Hi Tede...this was definitely a wild herd of deer, but I believe that the cemetery offers such a safe haven for them, that they have become accustomed to seeing people. The older ones keep their distance and will run if you move. It was necessary to be very patient, stand very still with non-threatening body language. This little one was the only one that actually advanced toward me...very tentative, but curious.

Candais from Lisieux, Canada

Reminds me more a of a puppy than a deer...a great little face.

Franz from Baden, Austria

beautiful and touching (the eyes!), but ... "curiosity killed the cat!"

19 Feb 2011 5:28pm

@Franz: Yes, you are right...I don't think that the little ones in this herd had experienced any threat from people so they did not have the usual fear...perhaps, not a good thing.

Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, Canada

Beautifully framed and composed shot Myky! He is definitely an inquisitive type! ;-)

19 Feb 2011 6:10pm

@Eric Cousineau: It really was quite amazing...I was standing very still for quite some time with non-threatening body language...this was the only one of the herd who ventured this close...it was very tentative but he was definitely a curious fellow!
